WESAK
The thrice sacred day of Wesak has been celebrated at the Vihara since 1895. The three day Wesak celebration attracts approximately 120, 000 devotees, well-wishers and visitors to the Vihara. Free food, drinks and refreshments are served in the Vihara grounds. On Wesak night, a candle light and float procession to the city center organized by the Joint Wesak Celebration Committee with the participation of about 30,000 devotees.

ALL NIGHT CHANTING
This events has been held uninterrupted since 1965 to bless the sovereign, government and the country by invoking the Blessings of the Noble Triple Gem- the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha. The All Night Chanting is conducted by monks from all three Buddhist traditions- Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana.

ANNUAL MERIT OFFERING CEREMONY
This yearly event is held in the month of April to perform transference of merits to our departed relatives and friends. This is also a time to reflect on our elders’contribution to the family and community.

KATHINA
This is the third largest event in the Vihara after Wesak and the All Night
Chanting. Devotees will circumbulate the Vihara three times carrying requisites to be offered to the Sangha. The Kathina chevera (robe) will be sewn by the devotees in the traditional way before offering to the chosen member of the Sangha who are selected by the members of the Sangha themselves.

ANNUAL NOVITIATE PROGRAM
This annual event has been held since 1976 where participants stay in the Vihara for two weeks to experience the life of a Buddhist renunciate. Male participants shave their head and don the robes while female participants wear white attire. During this period, participants will observe Ten Precepts and participate in chanting and meditation sessions and listening to Dhamma talks.
