A total of twenty three 40 ft containers and twelve 20 ft containers loaded with foodstuff, medicines, etc were sent by sea to Sri Lanka and Myanmar. All these containers were sponsored by various well-wishers and the freight forwarding community excluding two which was paid by the Buddhist Maha Vihara Welfare Fund.
Five 40 ft containers loaded with goods were sent to Thailand by land A total of four 40 ft container equivalent of foodstuff, medicines, etc were sent by air to Sri Lanka free of charge by various airlines.
One 40ft equivalent container worth of goods, medicines, generators, etc were sent to Aceh via the Sikh Youth Group under the banner "Wave of Mercy". The Vihara will continue to support this group periodically with medical supplies and other urgent needs from time to time based on their ground assessment in Aceh. They are providing aid directly to the devastated areas.

Four 20 ft lorries of goods were sent to ABIM to be sent to Aceh
Two 10 ton lorries of goods were sent to the Indonesian embassy to be sent to Aceh. Six lorries of 1 ton, 3 ton and 20 footers of essential goods were sent to Aceh via the Royal Malaysian Navy. A total of two 3- ton trucks of goods were sent to the Vivekananda Ashram to be sent to India.

We still have some goods in hand at the warehouses that are to be packed and shipped out based on the shipping confirmations in the next two weeks.
Cash donations
The Tsunami fund at the Vihara was officially closed on 16 January 2005. We are in the midst of finalizing the Accounts before calling in the External Auditor. We have already hit the RM 2.90 million mark.
Tsunami Relief Sub-Committee
A Sub-committee headed by the Most Venerable Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda Nayaka Maha Thera has been formed to deliberate on the proper disbursement of the funds collected.
