Since 1929, the BISDS has operated at the Vihara. Admission is free. With an enrolment of 1,500 students and voluntary staff of 140. The Dhamma school is one of the largest Dhamma schools in the country. Students are provided free refreshments during their recess.

The school has developed its own Dhamma school syllabus titled The Buddhist Series which has been adopted by many Dhamma schools in the country and abroad. The yearly operational and capital expenditure for the school is about RM 105,000.
